Here is the front cover for this month’s issue:

Make app mag issue 3 cover

The cover has raised a few eyebrows.  I know my conservative  mother went into a fit. Why is a half or three-quarters naked woman featuring there? What has she got to do with app development or app marketing?

Well, she really has nothing at all to do with app development but EVERYTHING to do with app marketing.  In fact she embodies the principals of app store optimization.  One critical element of app store marketing is to generate click-throughs.  Since our ideal target audience is primarily male (apologies to female readers) do you think this image will help generate downloads?  I certainly think so, at any rate this will be a very interesting test.  If you sign up to the email list below, we’ll let you know of the results!  I have no doubt that we should see an increase in downloads due to an higher CTR.

What do you think?  Have we gone too far with the front cover image?  What do YOU think the effect on the magazine downloads will be?  Leave your comments below…

P.S. I’ve started to take action on the lessons I’ve personally learnt through interviewing leading app developers.

If you are a mag subscriber and you want to follow along and read about my progress, you can do so by joining my private email list.  This is separate to the email list openly available on this site since I don’t want to bombard people with emails who aren’t  interested in hearing about my app development and I want to make it available only to people who have downloaded the mag.

To join, click on the “news” icon within the app and you’ll see a funny video of me with an email form below – fill in your details there and I’ll keep you in the loop.  Below you can see an image of what to look for:
